How to keep pads from unmuting when i leave pad mute window

I have an mpc 1000 running jjos2xl. I use my mpc in a live setting a lot and Im wondering if it is possible to KEEP pads that i have muted in the pad mute window MUTED. I tend to have to leave the pad mute window a lot to do other things and when I do this the pads that were muted become unmuted and begin playing things i don't want to hear. Is there a way to keep those mute settings on while i leave the window, or is there a way to work around this issue?

unfortunately, there is no way to avoid this. it is a limitation of the feature.

i get around this by just putting each pad on it's own track (very easy to do in 2xl) and then just use track mute.
