Have not used the mpc for a long time, not sure which OS2XL version I have exactly, but it would be nice if the following features could be added to new release. Some of these were part of Akai os

- Press stop button twice - songs stops immediately and kills all sounds. Including hanging midi notes (akai os has this)

- In load screen, be able to select the file type you want to see. Very handy if you have a load of files in the same folder. Select for example, *.all or .wav and only those files are displayed (akai os has this)

- Arpeggiator hold. Press some pads, hit hold and arpeggiator continue to play. Whith Q sliders be able to change for example note length and pad bank knobs abcd to transpose octave up or down.

- Using qlink to change settings of already recorded midi notes. For example when you have recorded a nice chord sound. With the qlink you can make changes to this chord like long and short decay. This nice for making variations during a live show.

- Be able to change track mode, so arp/chord/midi while the mpc continues to play.

Well besides Qlink to note length, it is all in there. Just hit stop 3 timesd fast for midi note off message to be sent. I use it alot so it is in there.
In load screen there is a set order. Better file management is recommended as well. The set order is the only way yes, but it is very obvious. ie projects then sequences then samples but I did mention all the file types like OS , midi ect but you get the picture. You get used to it and with good management you do well.
I do not use Arp much, I play em instead now but do you use chords a real lot. Here you will notice that Q-link does change chord length but not after recorded. only in realtime as you record. What you do is use Q-link to send the right midi CC that is for synths decay/release. that does the same. as you can see from this live jam I use MIDI CCs on qlink sliders to change stuff up and do what your talking bout. I use a synth as a controller for decay/release as well that just sends through active track. So when I get another controller I will be able to do any parameter on any synth by qlink slider.

Great advice right here. Also great track blip.

yea my post is full of grammatical errors so sorry bout that, but you get the gist. IF you are not using midi, and using a drum or instrument program then set Q-link to sample end for same effect. I do use a bit of midi as you can see. That track is a live jam to its not finished, so I have a lot of work to do to take it to the next level but it shows how Qlinks and even pattern to pad and external controllers give you control over the amp envelope of your synths. I mainly use filter cut off and res of course der, but also a bit of attack and also release of the synths amp envelopes. LFO and pitchbend to. the sky is the limit, as in JJOSXL has enough MIDI events to do this.
I just make sequences and switch em up and tweak away and that track is that process. I might hit on to a good sound change and record it. Thanks TYPO, I will work on it more. It is me doing like an older style, I gotta chop it up and **** it up more and do some drops and builds to make it a bit more modern i reckon, and make it sound like its done in a DAW

 I forgot major hint about changing track type while playing OP so sorry here it is now......

OK sander go into Grid edit window and hit left cursor. You now have drum/midi/chord/arp/audio highlighted and you can change it here AS IT PLAYS< 8)
I use it all the time. Can not do this in main screen for some unknown reason. But works fine in grid edit window. that and mode plus jog wheel for track change means its pretty quick to get around.

Thanks for the tips!

As alternative for finding files quickly in the loadscreen, I now hold the shift while scrolling which speeds it up enormous.

Have not got the ARP hold to work. Could it really work?
