So there's two way to make use of patterns using Pads.

Either Pad Status (Main: Mode + F6) and patterns sets.

or

Pattern Next page (Main: Mode + F2)

In which situations do you use these different modes?
I haven't really used patterns yet so I thought I could see if I can get any good ideas here on the forum on how to make best use of patterns and pads.

Nah I never use the main + F6 mode. I use the method you do not mention. If you highlight the -- next to the pad number at the bottom of main screen and hit window it will open set window. That is what I do and make them manually for each song. So I do it from main screen. A few things annoy me like how it says select all but it is just pads them selves function not the actually be able to select all the same CC or value like pad, so it seemed broken and I keep trying to use the select all feature, and thinking yeah thats right it dont work that way. Cos like I said I use main screen and got to the other SETS window.. I like the sets but Its hard to remember what they do after making a lot of them. So i make set 1 for normal pad use and patterns and CCs go in set 2 and 3 ect.
I use pattern to pad a bit but for MIDI CCs and such, like say just CC71.

Basically Main + F6 is the same pad mode you are using only presented in a different way. So you have a pad sets active all the time (although 1 is for "normal"use)? Which is the quickest way to change set on the fly?

The other mode "Pattern Next" is completely different, since you can only play one patterna at a time and nothing else than patterns. I'm not sure which situations this one is intended for. Any ideas?

Its for patterns   . nah its all good, its just not sunk in yet for you. I never use that pattern window either. which kinda made me laugh a bit there.
Not that there is anything wrong with that, if it works for you, it works for you!
Ok there are only 10 sets now. They can be switched in the Pad Mode Assign List window. Open that from main screen as I described above. And you notice that it has
[set No.]
1

Highlight the number and you can change your set. It is on 1 as default. I use this screen to change the set number. So you can do what I do and use 1 as normal, and 2 with crazy patterns / pcs / midi CCs / ect. You make your own patterns yeah!
that is what is good about it. Depends on my project and what I am doing of course.
