Hi, I recently got the JJ OS 4.99 for my MPC1000. I really did never got totally into all the details concerning the Akai OS, but now with JJ OS I really want to start knowing my unit the best as possible, the problem is that the manual I have is quite ambiguos. I don't know where to start now; should I first read the entire Akais OS manual? Then the JJ OS manual? I am considering getting the "beat making on the mpc1000" e-book in order to get the entire Akai OS knowledge (in theorical terms of course) and then adapt to the JJ OS, is this a good movement?

yes... the beat making book by tutor now includes an additional JJOS section... i would recommend a combination of his book and the "official" manual [written in a roughly translated english, but you can make sense of it] from the JJOS site.

Its amazing how fast you get responses in this forum!

Thank you very much!
So now the e-book covers JJ OS? I just don't want to put the money and then have a manual that will just work for Akai OS...
I am kind of able of translating what I already know from the origina OS to JJ, but I want to REALLY grab tha JJ OS in the balls and learn all its little details... the manual is not of much help for a non english speaker like me (its difficult to try and understand the context and all that is said)

i didn't understand the JJOS site manual when i first got my mpc either... it made much more sense once i went back to it after having used the machine for a year or so... it'll come in handy later... if anything else to make you notice some JJ features that you may had been completely overlooking.

Thanks, just to make things clear...

I have read the 6 pages and all the links (except the ones in the first threat) dont seem to work...

here all the links seem to be broken too

I guess I'll end up trying to translate the official JJ manual
which I believe is this:

RAAAAAHG! I wish there was a straight method of learning JJ OS (just like reading a specific well written official manual that does not require reading beforehand the AKAI OS manual...)

Sven so, thank you very much!!... don't know what time it is where you guys are writting from, but here in Madrid is late enough... goodnight!

There is, it's called trial and error!! Time spent on the machine is the crucial element. Even with manuals, time on the machine is required to apply what you've read.

Of course, and that way I could understand a lot of the Akai OS and some stuff from the JJOS, but some of the more complex stuff is not on the surface (I still don't understand some pages and stuff), thats why it would be cool to have a GOOD proper manual (as with many other machines) to get a walkthrough all the functions and parameters so you can then spend all the time you can and need to develop your own workflow and method and tricks and bleps, the problem is that that manual is lacking so now I have what seems to be a veeeeery powerfull machine and only trial and error to manage to understand the whole thing... I love manuals, as they give you all the details and stuff, I just wished there was one for this... I'll just spend hours
