Layer mode and filter/FXs settings

MPC 1000, JJOS2XL.

For example let's assume I have a typical DRUM program with x samples (voices).
My set up is very simple:
pad 1 sample 1 track 1
pad 2 sample 2 track 2
pad 3 sample 3 track 3
etc.

Suppose I add a filter to sample 02 using this screen:


and some effects to sample 02 using this screen:


Now suppose I add a layer in program mode, for example adding sample 2 in pad 01 using this screen:


Will that layer with sample 02 reflect the filter and FXs added earlier to that sample 02 ??
My preliminary experience shows that the 2nd layer with sample 02 does NOT include the filter and FXs setting on sample 02.
In other words it seems to me layer 2 uses sample 02 raw, original, stripped of either the filter or FX.

Is this normal ? did I miss something ?

fx and filters or whatever will only be on the pad you affected, not the sample.

if im understanding u right, you can either put your effects/filter on sample 2 then resample it and layer it with sample 1(dont forget to turn off the filter/fx then or it will be filtering sample 1 also)

or

have sample 2 on a pad w/ your filter/fx and put sample 1 on a different pad and use simult to layer them

fx/filters are per pad, like chronic said.

so your image shows you adding another sample on the same pad -
the filter/fx will be the same.

if you want to use slightly different fx/filters, put sample 2 on another
pad and use the simult setting to trigger them together.

you can get some great snap out of the filter at low (time) settings
a layering sounds (on seperate pads) with slightly different filter
settings and panning them differently in the stereo field can lead to
some pretty fun exploration.
