I would like do to a large amount of chopping and rearranging, but with midi data instead of the more usual audio... Any suggestions for a good way to do this? I would like to record midi from an e-drum kit first. This means that, along with the notes data, there will be CC msgs for the hihat and snare positional sensing which i want to copy and keep in the correct position wrt the note data..
i am imaging something like recording a drum performance, then chopping it into small pieces (a beat or two long) and assigning these to pads and then playing. its important that I can record or otherwise have a full length midi track when done.
I think I could probably duplicate the track many times, and shift the data earlier by different amounts, which would give me chops. but Im unsure if I should use patterns (solo'd) for this, or individual sequences fired from the next seq screen.
Any other suggestions for building a track composed of short pieces of midi data? would the midi editor be any good for this?
