can anyone explain to me hiw to set up some smooth sounding velocity layers? i have three samples of a snare drum, taken at low, medium and full velocity. i assign the samples to the same pad with velocity ranges 0-41, 42-83, 84-127. but when i play this. the volume is not related to the velocity, so basically i just hear three samples at their original volume, switching based on the velocity. i then tried turning the velocity parameter in the amp screen to 0 and now i can hear Some volume changes within each layer, but unfortunately there is still a huge gap in volume from a hit with velocity 41 and one with velocity 42.
my samples are not normalized, so i am expecting vel 41 to play the low velocity sample at full volume, and a hit at vel 42 to play the mid velocity sample at a reduced volume, (50% ?) the manual shows how velocity maps to a single sample, but how do you get it to produce a smooth increase in volume over the whole velocity range?..

Maybe assign strongest sounding sample to 127-110, next 109-89, 88-66, and last one over half of range like 65-0, and then set velo parameter to 0, 30, 50, 80 and 100 and see does it make any difference.

i think this is due to my samples not being normalized, ie, my quiet snare sound is actually quiet. if i assign the *same* normalized sample to each layer, i can set the zones randomly, and there is still a smooth ramping up in volume (assuming vel is set to 0 in the amp screen, for max velocity->volume mapping).

i cant quite decide if this is stupid behaviour or not.
