My HD on my 2500 has been acting up lately, I found one on amazon for cheap, plus I got a gift card from there for x-mas, figured I might as well use it for something useful. I hope someoe could tell me if the following HD has the right stats, I'm too sure what the '9.5mm' refers to. I'm not worried about the brand, just the stats. As I'm fully aware that not every particular brand or model has been tested. I just want to be absolutely sure about the stats

Thanks in advance

You've probably dealt with this by now, but I figured I'd answer anyway. I found your post because I was in the middle of confirming the same question.

The normal specs say 9mm. However, I've seen a number of posts in this forum, which mentioned that they were using drives that were 9.5mm. I've looked at the specs of some of the drives in the big hard drive recommendations thread (viewtopic.php?f=15&t=40243 ), and the drives I saw somewhere that Akai officially recommended, and I noticed some of those drives are also 9.5mm.

Double check the product listing:
1. Make sure it's ATA, PATA or IDE...not SATA.
2. Make sure it's 2.5"
3. If possible, make sure it has 44 pins.
4. And, of course, you more than likely will find that it's best to buy a brand new one, as opposed to used or refurbished.

I believe the drive you mentioned meets all of the criteria. If you haven't bought it already, the same company has the same exact drive listed twice on Amazon, including at a lower price than the one you saw: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000J3 ... QLX6KGLLV2
