Well I don't want the main button as a toggle, because if you're in the main screen and you push it the mpc will jump to whatever MODE screen. In earlier versions of the 2XL the main button did not do that, i.e. if you were in the main screen and you would push it the mpc would stay in the main screen.

here is the explanation on JJ's website:

http://www7a.biglobe.ne.jp/~mpc1000/os2 ... omize3.htm

it does not explain how to unassign a mode from the MAIN button.

haha. you're writing a macro, aren't you? the main button toggle is problematic if you are writing a macro.

i insert a different mode screen toggle in there. flash to another screen first, like GPE, and then MAIN. this will bypass the toggle, since first MAIN press always goes to MAIN>

yep.

So I guess once you use this toggle feature you can't switch it off?

yep, going to another mode and then to MAIN is a workaround, I think I will do it like that.

It's a simple macro: Switch the metronome in playback on/off.

p.s.

if you switch the metronome on/off while recording the mpc exits rec/overdub. Is this a bug?

probably not. overdub/record is much more conditional than we would think. all sorts of modes cancel out overdub - GPE for example, probably seq edit etc.

nice one.
i haven't updated my macros since 128xl....i'm missing some of them a lot.

3.26 solves the issue:

Please push the MAIN button, holding the [SHIFT] button on a MAIN screen.
The mode assigned is canceled.
Please be sure to push the [SHIFT] button first.

Thank you
