Is it possible to use the MPC 2500's regular functions, while also sending MIDI information to another device?

I find myself making a beat with one hand (MPC) and playing a synth bassline (Korg synth) the other... can I lay down MIDI notes to be sent to the synth (thus playing the bassline), while simultaneously rocking the beats?

The MPC is a 2500 with JJ OS XL and the synth is a Korg R3.

I am having trouble. I set the R3 and the MPC to midi channel 1. I turned off the R3's local control. My midi cable goes from Out-B to the R3's Midi IN. Omni B is set. I still can't control the synth with the MPC. Am I missing some settings?

Got it going. Had to set "MIDI" to On in the main window.

Good for you. If you also connect the midi out of your synth to a midi in on your mpc you can play the notes on your synth, record them in your mpc and then let them play in the mpc.

And use your R3 keys as a midi controller for other sounds while you're at it.
