Hi all, I saw a function in the mpc2000xl today that I'm missing on the MPC1000 JJOS2xl.

In the 2000xl when looping a samples, you can check the parameters page to see what the tempo of the loop is. Then you can tune the sample up or down and see what bpm value the tune adjustments give.

Like this:

Sample tempo: 95.0 bpm
New Tempo: 95.0 bpm Tune: 0

Adjusting the tune changes the New Tempo value.

That's a great feature! A lot faster than the trial and error in the mpc1000 tuning/matching to a tempo.

Not shure if everybody understands what I'm saying.

It would be cool if it can be implimented. Or does anyone know a way to do this in jjos2xl? Or the previous jjos?

Getting approximate tempo of your sample is easy:
* Go to TRIM (mode+pad6) and press EDIT
* Scroll to TIME STRETCH page and press TEMPO
* Set your Tsig (time signature) and number of beats
* press MANUAL

This does the following calculation to get your bpm:

(60*BEATS) / (SAMPLES/44.1)*0.001

where
BEATS = number of beats and
SAMPLES is the total samples value of your sample (end - start).

Now afaik there's no way to atm get the resultant bpm after tune.

Yeah, I know that it's possible to do it with the timestretch manual thing. But the way the mpc2000 works really nice tuning a sample to the right bpm.

Was this possible in any previous jjos?

It all ready is implemented in the JJOS. You just have not found it yet.

So go to Trim window, highlight the sample name at top of screen, if it is not, and hit WINDOW.

See you have three columns and tune is the second column here in this screen and is exactly what ya what right?

this reply is the same as the request thread as well.

The guy wanted to know how to know precisely the bpm of a sample once you changed the pitch , as apparently it is a stock fonction on the 2000xl.

You can change the pitch in the trim window (enlight sample name then window) but after that if you use the time stretch trick the tempo is still the original one, because the sample hasn't been changed really , it is just played slower....
