So, I've only had the 1000 since June of last year (a definite change from my beloved 2000xl), and I originally had a blue one with JJOS1. I sold that and bought a black 1000 that had JJOS2xl. The first thing I noticed with my newer 1000 was when I used the Q-link sliders to control the pitch shift of a sample in realtime, there is an aliasing/digital sound when I move the slider very fast. My first 1000 with JJOS1, a blue model, had BUTTER sliders. I could pitchshift in realtime extra quick and the sample would smoothly change pitch in realtime.

I've gone into slider settings and messed with the number of variants, but I still can't figure out why realtime pitchshift with the sliders is different on my newer machine. Is this a slider issue (i.e. a part change from the older 1000s to the newer 1000s) or a byproduct of JJOS2xl (i.e. using some of the limited jj program space for another feature sacrificed resolution on controlling realtime pitchshift with a slider)??

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I loved how smooth my old 1000 was when I would do pitch shift with the sliders during live sets.

slider parts are same. You can double check on the service manual or MPC parts, but that wouldn't really affect aliasing like you're describing. I haven't used the new OS so can't say, but that's a more likely culprit. I understand you can jump among all the previous OSs so you might try getting JJOS1 (my favorite) and see if that resolves it. Let us know what you find.

Thanks for the info on the slider parts Austin_tacious. I'll have to troubleshoot some more by booting up with the free OS, I don't believe OS1 is on my current 1000. If I can confirm that the OS2xl is responsible for the slider resolution, I'll post it up. Still need to download the latest version of 2xl to see if it possibly fixes the problem.

Funny, I had the same realization when I switched over to the os2xl. The pitch shift was a big part of my music making and the os2xl made is a but sluggish. Being that I am in love with the XL and just finding new horizons for what can be done with an mpc 1000 I have found a temporary fix until JJ fixes this bug in his next update. So if you have any midi keyboard ( I use my mikrokorg) with a pitch shift wheel go ahead and make that midi connection between that and your mpc and then use the pitch wheel to pitch shift on your MPC and you will find that it gives you that old pin point accuracy.
