Hello people, maybe someone'll remember me, i was on this forums until cpl of years ago, had a 2kxl, a 4k then a 1k with jjos2xl then maschine for a cpl years now back on 2500 (and push, given that im an ableton live certified trainer, and also because that controller is lively)

i usually use mpcs mainly for live performances and i play fast (around 200 bpms) and intricated stuff (fractured hi-speed breaks).

i'm settin up my next liveset which will be mpc2500, virus ti and cpl outboard fx.

as of now i didn't purchased yet the jjos2xl, was just messing with the free one waiting to have some more $$ to invest.
meanwhile i started the new set, which as of now its just 1 drum part , 2 breaks parts and up to 4 midi parts for the virus.
everything is fine on the free jjos, i can record ccs from the virus and stuff.
but today i tried the same liveset on jjos2xl and one sequence in particular is totally getting the mpc crazy, like speeding up and slowing down the tempo, also there seems to be some lag when i press buttons, overall it is obvious that the cpu is overwhelmed.

so, question is , it is true that os2xl is weaker stability-wise in comparison to the free one? caused by the extra features in jjos2xl?
do you think this behavuour is caused by too many cc's sent to the virus at the same time?
do you suggest me to stay with the free one, even with the limitations it has compared with the real mccoy?

thanks everybody in advance!

The paid versions of JJ just have a lot more going on than the free can imagine.
You just have to find your balance with them and how they use resources.
Stability shouldn't be a concern.

yah, i already used os2xl till 2 years ago on a 1000, it was really forward thinking and i'd miss a lot of useful features such as immediately play directly from next seq window, audio tracks, editing extras and stuff...

Had that weird tempo thing one time with OS1 5.0 few days ago. Couldn't do anything, hitting buttons, pads, stop, play, whatever just didn't help. Only turning off. Very strange, but couldn't reproduce it.

Only thing I know is that I hit PLAY and PLAY START for a lot of times before.

i think it behaves like that when for a reason or another we are hitting the CPU overload level....
had to switch off me too a few times on the 1k with jjos2xl.
anyway input through appears to eat up a lot cpu cycles , hence i'm gonna avoid it with busy projects.
think another problem can be that i'm recording and playing back quite a lot of midi cc's for the virus on usually 3 or 4 different midi channels.

Too much data can cause a lag on any OS (especially with input thru, or while recording audio). I think (just my feeling) it's not even matter of how much you are sending or receiving at once, but how much size (kb) is your particular sequence. I noticed that MPC holds a memory of a sequence that you are actually recording (for undo feature). If it's big sized and long it laaaaaags.

It does seem like 2xl is pressing the CPU envelope sometimes.

I know that my polyphony will futz out sometimes when I'm programming.

Its just fine when the loop comes back around,
but that would obviously be a problem for live plinking.

This is on the 1000, I dont know if the 2500 is more powerful.

And I suppose its possible that the streamlined code of os3 could fix that.
