CF Card Compatibility between 3.16 -> Any Paid Version

I'm gonna be flying out to visit a friend of mine in a month or so and I was wondering:

If he has a paid JJOS installed on his 1000, and my CF card is full of saved "free jjos" 3.16 folders, will they be loadable/compatible on his 1000?

Apologies if this has been addressed already, I didn't see it in the FAQ post or the forums.

It depends on the paid OS. It will be loadable (no problem with the CF card btw) but not 100% compatible.

Another issue could be the "volume curve". Except this you can have compatibility issue between programs, track velocity...etc

If you feel stuck just load the free OS on his MPC

just to confirm, when you say load the free os on his machine,

do you mean load the actual BIN file?

or do you mean hold the erase button on boot and select the free os?

Yeah the BIN file.

When you hold the erase button on boot you're just doing a reset of default parameters.

When you hold WINDOW on boot you can update the OS.

I don't know if you can choose the free OS from the LOAD menu of the MPC but just in case put the free OS at the root of your CF card.
