Can JJOS do multi sampling?

Hey guys,

I just got the superb XLCD screen for my 2500. It requires a free version of JJOS called 128 I believe?

Is there a way on this to do Multi samples? IE sample three notes say c1 / c2 / c3 of the same note and play them as one sample to improve sample tracking? (Ie multi-sampling like on an Akai rack mount)

Any help appreciated.

You can multisample in the free JJOS128, but you'll have to manually assign and tune each pad individually, it's the same multisampling method you'd use in any DRUM program.

However if you upgrade to JJOS128XL it has INST programs which allow you to set up keygroup ranges for each sample.

So, with the free one Id have to sample each note on my keyboard so for a 3 octave sample 36 notes? Is that what your saying in your first point.

No you can sample less than that and just use the built in tuning option on each pad to 'make up' the missing notes. So for example you could sample C, E and G from each octave and tune the C up by a semitone to cover the C#, then tune it up two semitones to D, then tune down the E by a semitone to Eb etc etc.

The more notes you sample, the more realistic it will sound.

In a DRUM program, you'd have to assign each sound to a pad, then tune up/down each pad accordingly. In an INST program, you just assign each sample to a 'range' of notes, i.e. piano_E1 covers the range 'Eb1 to F1'.

Maybe its worth me updating then. I currently have a S6000 I use only to multi sample too. Other than that I use my MPC. May sell the 6k and upgrade.

I'd keep the S6000 for now and just see how jjosxl devours your polyphony first, especially with pads, chords, looping etc.
