Strange things and problems Free OS

I was an XL user since many years and finally purchased a used 2500 that had already installed the free OS Version, 128 Akai's RAM and 160gb Hard Drive.

BUT the 2500 seems to do some "strange" things, (except for screen flickering that i had described in a previous post), when fo example i tried to F2 slice a sample that i had named "LOU" to 4 seperate samples, it done it, but the names were: LOU1,LOU2,IOU3,LOU4 (NOTE THAT AT THE 3rd sample there is no "L", but "I") !!
Generally i had never noticed that (i have sliced many sampples and all were ok).

Also, another "strange" thing: I load some programs from the XL , and is for example ProgramA, ProgramB, and ProgramD. It normally loads ProgramA and B, but NO the Program D, as i move with the jog wheel. Only when i move with "violence" the jog wheel it finally goes to ProgramD .

And who knows how many other problems and disfunctions will it appear in the future, i am about to return it back.

May all these be from the Free OS that is running?
May be from a "hurt/damaged" hard drive?
I went to an old technician/unkle of mine, and told me the screen flickering for example is due to power supply..

Go to the other screen and tell us which version of jjos it's running, the exact version number

JJ OS 3.10 as i remember (i am at work right now and will check for sure, but i think 3.10 its the version)

yeah that is a old version there is a new update, well in fact a few updates, since that version. Go here and download the newest version and follow instructions on how to update http://www7a.biglobe.ne.jp/~mpc1000/

did you update it? just google jjos for 2500 update. Yes I gave you 1000 link sorry, but if that is updated so is the 2500, as the OS's are practically the same.
So first link on a google search gives the right one.

It had already the 3.10 Free OS from the previous owner. You mean to install the JJ OS with cash? (OS XL etc...)? I have the MP for a trial in my home, just to see if i ll finally buy it. I m not going yto pay for something that i dont know if i finally buy, but i dont think its because of its software. Maybe the most wise solution can be tio install the firstly "original" Akai OS, but again, how ll i notice if all is OK? These problems , as i wrote to my first post, are "by chance", i mean they can be appeared for example on Monday, but the other day not... And this is the "strange thing".. that one time they appeared , and another time all is OK...

What do you mean? To replace it etc? (switch tacts etc...)?

I cannot do anything at the MP. It is still owned by the previous owner. I simply have it to try it, and if its OK to buy it.

So, i simply ask, is it worth to buy it and fix these problems , or these are more "serious" problems and in the future i may pay again and again etc...
I am at 99% to give it back and look for another, even if thesze are problems may be "small" and "could be fixed", i dont want to be entered to such a painfull process, to fix and fix etc...
I give my money, i demand the machine to be perfect. simple.

It seems that you're having hardware issues. Personally, I wouldn't buy it.

Free JJ OS is at 3.16 so go update. Its free. Its easy and you should do it. At least go read the link I posted.

OK now to typos comment about jog wheel
There is a setting for the jog wheel that makes the jog wheel respond with one or two moves. Check this setting as typo mentioned. So update, check setting and then see if it fixes it.
Maybe instead of making demands you make an effort to try and sort it out first and make sure you are not wrong and simply do not know the settings. It happens but you got to make an effort. It wont fix its self.
So do these two things, that are free and you should do, and then see if it fixes it.

The OP has an MPC2500. The current version of the free JJOS for the MPC2500 is 3.10, not 3.16, so he is up to date.

I also believe that the MPC2500 does not have the 'Type 1/2' data wheel setting, only the MPC1000.

It's mentioned at osxl manual for 2500, but I don't know does JJ updated free versions with this..

OP just look into [mode 10] do you have a selection for wheel:

Nope, OS Free hasn't this function at Other for 2500's data wheel.

Antway, thank you all for your responses, as it seems, it may be a hardware issue, i will return it back. Thanks god, 2500 isn't the most rare and xtremely hard to find model of MP's in the world... i ll find one :p
