mpc 1000 + microkorg issue

So i just bought a microkorg with some midi cables, hooked it up to my mpc (in to out, out to in) and hooked up some audio cables to the input of my mixer. I managed to record some stuff but when i go to add drums or samples from the mpc, each pad plays a note from the microkorg. How do i stop this from happening?

change track from midi to drum

or set the midi track to off or another midi channel so mk does not hear it.
this reminds me i have to do a sysex dump of MK to save settings, you can do that if you want to.
