Do you know how to set the pad to 'loop & hold' as you're within the JJOS and/or JJOS2XL? That is, just to trigger a sample by pushing the pad once & it can then just loop from there as set from the trim page but not necessarily in a sequence?
I already have been working w/the free JJOS so far & haven't seen anything like this within it unless I haven't found it yet.

Also, the actual metronome I've been working w/is slightly different than the MPC BPM which is proving to be a bit frustrating w/linking/recording/looping everything exactly up properly<from the initial sample recording to trimming to then recording it to a sequence>. do you know if it's possible & if so how to trigger a metronome/click track in the MPC (in JJOS etc.) when initially recording a sample? In this case I'm initially recording live bass samples to loop & play over later live & for recordings.

I don't believe I can save within the JJOS2XL w/out the password(which I unfortunately don't have) unless you may know a way around that? (I'm not sure if I can get in touch w/the previous owner or not who left the OS on the MPC)
It looks like I can save samples etc. of course in the free JJOS & then @ least load them into the JJOS2XL upon switching OSs if necessary...

All in all, I'm generally working w/the free JJOS so far, & bought the tutorial ebook, & so far some nice things are beginning to happen...

Thanks for anyone/everyone who may be able to help w/these questions!

the way around the problem of saving in XL is by buying it. You can trial it for free but that OS actually has a cost and you have to buy it if you want to save, which is unlike the Free JJOS, which is free.
JJOS XL and OS 3 are same cost but are kinda different and so you should look at the comparison chart to see the difference but they are both much better than the free one usually depending on what you want to do. Again see comparison chart and then buy you JJOS that you want after you trial it. Also please note that you need to have the latest free JJOS installed to install new versions of XL and 3 so make sure you have the free JJOS updated and follow instructions given.

OK looping. go to trim mode and set the loop there and then go to program window and set sample to note on mode instead of one shot. But you have to hold down note and so you need to use sequencer but that is not hard and really a lot better as you get more control. Also note you can set loop points that are different to start points. well it is in XL an OS 3 but am pretty sure its the same. You are better of getting the sequencer to do it and loop a few bars this way. better to as you can do takes.

now the problem you have metrosexualgnomes. What you seem to be asking is for a count in. typical bass player i see :-D and want a click. OK I dont know but check your metronome sample as it might have a bit of silence at start of sample and this could mean it lags and is not in time. Cos trust me its in time and that seems the problem you are having maybe is a sample is not aligned in time cos of the silence in sample before hit. You can also set the count in to say for a bar. So try that and see if it helps and its all in the manual. You can also make your own metronome sample if you want. Or even make a click track and send it to a different output from the MPC to another monitor/speaker/headphone amp. All you need is a sample every bar so its not too hard to make.

I mentioned a thing called takes and this can work with audio tracks well just so you can resample parts of your guitar or drums that are layered. And in XL there is a loop record function for live playing to, but not in OS3. so look into those things to. It just means you can play and record in a different way but you can still do this in say OS3.
I would make drum sequence say 16 bars, just plug in bass and go to record screen and set it to record bass input but you can still play sequence and not record that just the bass input. You can use a footswitch to do this to and you can let the sequence loop once for a count in to.

In my opinion you can also set the "loop&hold"-function in program mode. The same way you change "note on" and "one shot", there's also the function "loop&hold".

I meant that once the passwort for the correct JJOS is entered, the unit doesn't looses it? But if the previous owner didn't buy the JJOSXL, maybe only JJOS1 or 2, you have to buy the pw for JJIOSXL.

NOT in OS 3 and XL though
