JJOS Questions for MPC 1000 Thanks!

Hey I just joined & posted & I appreciate the responses, but some of the main question/s were not initially understood, so I'm still looking for the answer/s. Thanks...

I'll try to simplify & make more apparent my question/s, so hopefully it's fielded well & the answer/s are also made apparent. Thank You...& again, thanks for the replies so far.

So, to simplify, I'm relatively new to the MPC but w/the help of Andy's tutorial ebook & some correspondence & beginning to try some stuff to apply it to producing my own music, I feel I'm beginning to make some inroads & some good stuff is starting to happen.

I installed the latest free JJOS & although the used MPC I bought has the JJOS2XL on it (I'm guessing it may have not even been 'bought' or 'verified' w/a password from the beginning as one of the forum members answered) & I was starting to look into some possibilities of using it, I've definitely decided to go w/the latest free JJOS which I've already been working w/ & becoming familiar w/ & again, also have the tutorial ebook for, which is extremely helpful!

So basically, my question/s about the latest free JJOS 3.16 are as follows:

1) When I go into <Mode, Record>, the initial purpose being to record live (played on an actual bass guitar & mic-ing the amp) bass samples into the MPC 1000 in order to then loop them for performance/recording, Is there a way to have a metronome/click going generated from the MPC, I can feed it through one half of my PA speakers as to not not disturb the recording of the bass/amp to create a good metric performance & then a good metric reference point & sample/s to properly then record into sequences & also have a uniform BPM coming altogether from the MPC itself so I can then properly record (& match up) live or electronic drum samples & into sequences as well as other live instruments/voices from the <mode, record> page & into sequences then as well as directly into the sequence from sampled drums/etc.? And if there is a way to set a metronome/click track from within the MPC in the <mode record> page as I'm laying down live bass lines standardize the BPM within the MPC to bring into a sequence and/or bring other instruments/voices in within the free JJOS, how exactly does one do that? Thanks...

2) Also, I was beginning to explore the 'loop & hold' function within the JJOS2XL (that was left from the previous owner like I was saying, but not having the password I could @ least dabble around a bit) & bring in some samples that I initially saved in the free JJOS to try out the 'loop & hold' function, & it was good to see that it 'worked', but it didn't sound as clean as when I recorded the recorded samples into sequences in the free JJOS. So, my question is: Is there a way to simply 'loop & hold' (just hitting a pad once w/out holding it down that a sample was loaded up on & it will indefinitely play the sample that was trimmed & set to loop in the trim page) within the free JJOS? It seems @ times an unnecessary extra step to then bring the sample perfectly into a sequence etc., if my purpose is to simply loop the played recorded bass sample to play live w/ & to bring in the sample wave into my 'Studio One 2' DAW to further record/produce with. Writing this, It seems I may also be able to loop the sample within 'Studio One' if not also look into the possiblities of looping within 'Sony Sound Forge' which Andy writes about in his ebook. So, if there is a way to just get a sample to 'loop & hold' by just triggering the pad once within the free JJOS, how exactly is that done?

How do you turn on input thru? & what page are you talking about doing this?

I'm initially asking about in the <mode, record> page setting up a click/metronome.

Are you talking about recording live in the 'record' page or the 'main' or another page?

thanks everyone!...i'm using exclusively the free JJOS btw now...

i think i figured out by reading some threads online how to just set the click/metronome to be on rec &/or play from the main page & then when i go to the record page just hit play & it gives me a click track to work off of...

the same seems to follows suit w/recording over(multitracking) other tracks as well by pressing play to play whatever track lined up in the main page while in the recording page to record, it seems w/or without a click depending on what i specify from the main page...

I haven't figured out how to just get a sample to 'loop & hold' in & of itself in the free JJOS if anyone may have incite into this? I'm guessing that this playback setting for the pads may only be avail. in the JJOS2XL?

But w/having a more standard unit of time to lay down the initial track & then into seq. & then ensuing tracks etc. it will be much easier, because I was initially just make-shifting the BPM & time signature etc. to get a wide-open recorded track into a sequence, which can work & be cool for sure! but it's also a lot of guess-work & trial & error. Also, I was initially working w/an actual physical metronome thinking it would keep the same timing when recording as the BPM in the MPC, but no, it actually kept slightly different timing enough to screw up bringing into seq. properly/perfectly w/the exact same BPM!

Well anyways, thanks again, y'all & thanks to Andy who writes these ebook tutorials that i highly recommend for what it's worth...It seems I stumble upon the answers as I search & try stuff & get educated & get some pointers from some folks!
