Loading up Songs?

I've always arranged Sequences in Song Mode and record out to make individual recorded songs.

However, for my live sets I like having multiple Songs loaded up, which is entirely possible with the MPC, the only issue I've ever encountered is running out of sample time by loading too much into a Project but my sets are usually short/minimal enough that this doesn't usually happen.

Since it seems like the only way to load up songs is by loading an ALLSEQANDSONGS file (which gets rid of everything already loaded), I've had to usually rearrange every song (since I made them separately at different times) in Song Mode. It's is so time consuming and frustrating. Is there really not a way to load up all my programs and sequences and then load in songs individually? I know that since I would be loading sequences into places they aren't in in the original Song, the MPC would get confused and play the wrong sequence. Though, it would be a little easier to have the original basic template for the Song, and just switch the sequences to the right one.

Anyone use the MPC live in this way and can help me out?

I believe songs are part of the ALL in that file format and can not be saved by them selves unlike sequences as you found out. You can make the song a sequence of course, and then save the sequence and name it what ever you want, and that will let you load just the "song" as a sequence.

IMHO that is a better option as then you can use the NEXT SEQ window and control what "song" (in this case a sequence) you want to play and change to next ect but keep the same programs ect.

...there is no way around preparing a continous live set on it's own...

load a single song project.....split the song into parts and make them sequences of their own.....part a b c d.....if you work with track mutes.....kill the content that is muted...
save those big part single sequences....

same with programs......

and well, it's a pain in the ass, but it has to be done....load all single programms and all single sequences in the way you need it and make them a new live project....

this is the only edge why an octatrack really makes so much sense....

if jj could only make it happen that we can stream audio from the card.....

ever thought about sampling complete stems?
fooling around with all the single drumsounds but leave the rest to one stereo sample?

if you work tight you can get along this way with rebooting only once in an hour of a live set....

no matter what, you need to swap the ram at least once anyway....and so you need a track from cd etc. to fill the waiting gap here and there.....

all live mpc jockeys i know do that....

so maybe you skip all the hussel to prepare and just play your songs the way the come from production and think of an solution to mix over to another source straightaway every one or two songs for a minute....

Might have to get another MPC to work in Tandem. The 128mb will limit you.
