Hello All! Long time lurker, first time poster.
I've tried searching for the answer to this specific question but can't exactly get the info I need, so here I am. I'm new to the MPC world so please bear with me.
Is velocity inconsistencies with the pads a sign of some going bad? Or is this pretty much normal? I adjusted the velocity values of all the pads to where hitting them all the same way produces roughly the same results (really roughly) and the velocity values are all over the place! Some are just the right amount of sensitive, and some I really have to hulk smash.
I recently purchased two used MPC's. One is an MPC-1000BK and the other is blue/red. I thought for sure the BK (with the black rear plate and in almost new condition) would be better than the blue/red and I was wrong. The BK is far more inconsistent, with some pads really having to be hit super hard just to get to 127 at max velocity value. The blue/red has more pads that seem normal and a few that need to be hit hard. The BK has JJOSfree on it, the blue/red has Akai OS.
Is this normal or do I need to go back to searching for the right MPC 1000 for me? Probably one saying the pads are upgraded? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!
