Please explain the "multitimbre" setting on JJOS2XL

My current setting (MPC + synths) uses the "as track" setting with "multitimbre" off.

But now I wonder what the "multitimbre" setting means and can be used for.
Sure, I am aware of what "multitimbre" means in principle for a synth, but in my mind this concept is not clear for a sampler/sequencer such as MPC1000/ JJOS2XL .... I have also the same question for "in 2 offset channel" setting which seems related.

So that would be quite great if these settings could be explained in basic or simple terms.

(I looked at the JJ manual, but still all this seems to me a bit abstruse )

With multi off and soft thru "as track" and "all channel recieve" it basically picks up from both inputs on all channels and pass it to the active track, selected on MPC.

So, if I have keboard on channel 4, knob box on channel 3 and pads/ MPC is on channel 2..
all **** will transmit and record to track 2 and it will drive channel selected on track 2 - which obviously can be 16B

As you turn on multi it just route 16 channels to first 16 tracks simultaneously, so all MIDI from channel 1 gets recorded on track 1 and so on.

I think it jus depend what you need to achieve. With multitimbre it's like you got 16 tracks armed for recording, you can record basic mixer changes, record automation from few controllers and all info gets wriiten respectively for each channel, depend what you have selected on controller. Well, mind that even with this setting you can't switch destination track for MPC pads, so they are always get recorded on selected active track. BTW with multi you prolly would want to change soft thru to one of OMNI modes, instead of "as track". To fully use multi feature you need to have other programmable controllers.


2IN offset - I don't use it, I currently don't see where it would be handy, as you play for instance on channel 5, but offset is +3, you hear your realtime playing with patch from channel 5, but as it playback it plays from channel 8.

No problem, later I thought this 2IN offset, can be for used for some very basic keyboards which send only on channel 1.
