Hey guys, this is my my first post. I just got my first MPC yesterday, and I'm excited but frustrated by the learning curve of the OS. I've got a 2500 with maxed out ram, 40gb hard drive, dvd drive, and running JJOS 3.12 (the free one). Essentially I'm trying to teach myself how to play like Araabmuzik and Jeremy Ellis, I already have the music theory down, I just need to learn this sytem. That being said if you guys could help me out with instructions, or even point me in the right direction with a link, I would be eternally grateful. On to the newbie questions!
1) What is the windows heirarchy? Like are songs made out of audio tracks, which are made of programs, that are constructed of samples? I'm trying to build a programs of sounds, but I don't really understand where to save them or how to organize them.
2) Is the cd drive the only way to import information? There's no other data input (besides midi) that I know of on it. Also, if I choose to go back to Akai's OS, can I dump it onto a cd and use that to install it?
3)Can I use a Cd to import programs to the system? I've been trying to cut a Primus track into usable samples using MPCMAID on my computer, but when put the samples and program into a folder on the cd, the MPC only recognized an audio file it couldn't play.
4) If I'm only using the MPC as a midi-fighter style drum pad, like Jeremy Ellis does for his performances on maschine, do I need JJOS, or would it be easier to switch back to Akai's OS.
Thanks guys!
