How to not play full sample

Hi,

This is my first post here. It's probably a simple issue, but I can't figure out how to play a sample only for the amount of time the pad is held down & not trigger the whole sample.

I'm using MPC1000 with JJOS2XL

In global program edit, change play mode from one shot to note on...

But I can't seem to figure out how to get to global program edit. in the jjos manual is seems to say mode + pad11, but that takes me to looping recorder?

Surely it's still mode + program isn't it? Then like he said you'll find note on or off.

mode + pad 11 is for JJ OS1.
