How do you get pads to cut off one another?

Okay, so I can get a pad to cut itself off each time when pressing it multiple times but I don't know how to get the pads to cut off each other when you pressing different ones.

The sound of the first pad just runs in to the other one on one shot or if I use note on then it can be done sort of manually but it's pretty difficult sometimes to get the timing just right.

I'm using an MPC 1000 running JJOS 1 V4.99.

If you want each sample of the program to mute each other one, set the program play mode to mono.

Otherwise use the mute group function. Or use mute targets...
