Load MPC 500 Programms & Sequences in MPC 1000 with JJOS2XL

HI MPC Forum!
I recently bought an MPC 1000 with JJOS2XL on it. I used to create tracks with my MPC 500. Now i wanted to load my files into my new MPC but unfortunately this is not working properly. My Midi Notes are all messed up and some of my Samples cannot be loaded.
I already discovered MPC Maid but this seems not to help with the Sequences. I also tried to save my Seqeunces in MID SMF form-1 but still the Midi Notes are messed up. Is there anything i could do to get my songs from the 500 to 1000 without problems?

MIDI notes are messed up because JJOSXL uses chromatic programs, so when you load a legacy program (which use a jumbled midi note order, A1=37, A2=36, A3=42 etc), JJOSXL reorders the pads so the MIDI notes run A1= 36, A2=37, A3=38, A4=39 etc. Unfortunately your sequences were written using the original jumbled order and JJOSXL does nothing to 'fix' these. The manual fix is to use 'transpose' to change each instance of each changed MIDI event for every program affected so your sequence now references the new correct pad. This can take a fair bit of work for some projects.

As for the sounds that are not loading, I'm not sure what that might be. A WAV sample from a 500 project should load in jjosxl without any problem.

Thank you very much for the explanation!!! Really appreciate it but i do not like what you are saying... I think this means that i have to transpose every single note that i have played in my projects - it will be easier to just record my patterns new. Or maybe i can do it like this: put midi out of mpc 500 in midi in of mpc 1000 and just record the midi events. I hope this works. I will let you know!
Unfortunately i already placed my MPC 500 at ebays so i do not have much time to transfer my projects and sequences ...

Recording the MIDI will not fix the events, you'll still be transferring, for example, a note 37 at 1.00.00 which will now trigger pad A2 in JJOSXL instead of the originally intended pad A01. You'll also probably lose all the MPC specific MIDI events that are not part of standard MIDI protocol (e.g. Q link info) so you're definitely better off just loading the PRJ.

If you have a lot of stuff to transpose, probably best to come up with a written step by step process to follow for each seqeunce (e.g. step 1, change all A01 events to A02, step 2 change all A02 events to A01, etc).

BTW don't panic. While your new MPC currently runs JJOSXL you can freely switch between JJOSXL and the 'free' JJOS by holding down TAP TAMPO while booting up the MPC. Your MPC500 projects will load without problem in the free JJOS, so you have all the time in the world to make the conversions, or just run your old projects in the free JJOS and work on new projects in JJOSXL.

thanks bro! Figured already that transfering via midi did not work out.. Maybe yes it's a good idea to play my old stuff in the free JJOS while doing all my new songs in JJOS2XL. Will try to load some projects in the freeOS and will report if this had worked! Thanks again - great support!

hey - thanks for the help! I was now able to reproduce all my old songs in my new mpc 1000 - i saved everything in my mpc 500 als MID SMF form-1, then loaded all my Midi Sequences into JJOS without problems. The "only" thing that i needed to adjust was all my sampled sequences that triggered mpc pads - but i did as you suggested - i transposed every event - not a very nice job but i finally managed to do it - so everything is working now... (phew) - thanks a ton for helping!!
