Hi All,
Yes yes, i know this is a much talked about subject on here & read many of them that show "yes u can do this" & "no you can't" responses so am in need of positive outcomes:) here please so here goes!
I am a live rock drummer, been using an MPC1000 live for over 7 years now, its worked a treat especially when i changed over to JJOS1!
I'll give you a quick rundown on my setup!
I use JJOS1 - Version 4:99L, 2GB Sandisk CF, 70 GB Internal HD, Roland TMC-6 Midi Converter & 3 Roland PD-8 Trigger Pads & Xenyx 1202 Mixer, all in one case - stellar.
I play to a click which i have set up all of them as an individual sequence (4/4 Loop On 2 Bar ie 188bpm tempo) so at end of each song i simply move joggerwheel to the next program loaded and continue on...easy!
Note - Our live sets are all preprogrammed in the MPC that contain click for each track as well as samples ie keys, noise effects etc assigned to individual PD-8 Trigger pads which i hit with drumsticks during songs to trigger a e.g keyboard section that might e.g run for 30 seconds...all easy again!
Load time for all these programs for a 40 minute set is about 30 seconds so its perfect! All files 16-BIT, all MONO!
NOW - The new dilemma, we lost our bass player recently so instead finding someone else we want to run prerecorded bass backing tracks instead still using the MPC!
CAN THIS BE DONE SOMEHOW???
I saw this once <The main problem for you is the MPC memory limit. It can only hold about 24 minutes (mono) of audio (or 12 minutes of stereo audio). I recommend a multitrack recorder (with MIDI sync) for your backing tracks. Something like a Roland VS-880 or Akai DPS-12>
WE DON'T want to use a LAPTOP Live!!! Out of the question!!!
But also don't want to drag around another bulky hard disk item that i am seeing as suggested.
SO can any amazing MPC expert road warriors shed some light on making this request a reality???
Am no expert with JJOS1, the MPC1000 manual says you can make a single sequence rather than loop?
If so will there be still enough memory to run a 40 minutes set of just bass backing tracks?
I look forward to any advice, suggestions.
Oh is there any new updates i need to do for JJOS1 - Version 4:99L to possible achieve this?
