Completely Disable Sustain / Make MIDI CC 64 Normal

I'm currently using JJOS 2xl on my MPC and struggling with the way it interprets MIDI CC 64. This is designated for the sustain pedal. I don't use this for a pedal, instead I have to use this value to control a value on my MFB Tanzbar.

The problem I have is when I stop my MPC, it sends out a value of 0 on that CC, I guess to stop the pedal. This means that whenever I stop my mpc, that parameter is aways set to 0, and I have to fiddle with it.

I can somewhat work around this by sending out a different CC 64 value on play, but its really obnoxious when I'm jamming, and may come back to bite me improving at a show.

Is there any way I can turn that off? Setting "Sustain Pedal to duration" to "NO" let me record MIDI CC 64 from my external controller, but did not stop the 0 value from being sent.

I ended up hearing back from JJ (Or someone on the end of the bug reports). The answer is no, CC 64 is hard coded to send a 0 on stop as it is designed for a sustain pedal.

Can you have the mpc midified to a daw, the daw to the tanzibar and filter/transform the signal accordingly?

Say that instead of CC64 you use another "free" one on the MPC, you set REAPER (or any other DAW) to ignore any unwanted event and receive that particular CC to replay it on CC64, I'm sure you can do that with some JS plugin, but not only with that. Since it's a pretty simple transformation you can get it done with unnoticeable latency. There are also hardware solutions, to midi remap. Essentially any thru-box which can filter particular Notes/CCs and remap them arbitrarily should do.

I had something set up with an old iPhone, using it to filter events (and convert note velocity to CC to be able to play the drum machine in interesting ways). But the application I was using was a tad buggy, and in general its just one more thing that can go wrong.

I'm going to end up working around it and just get use to it. Not a dealbreaker, more of a quirk. Maybe at some point I'll find a different application and map a different CC from the MPC to CC 64 on the Tanzbar, or go with another piece of hardware..

I haven't had this problem specifically, but sometimes I'll use a blank sequence to "stop."
