Mpc and octatrack

Anyone use these 2 together?
If so how is the pairing? What is your workflow?
I am considering getting one soon over an analog 4 because I really enjoy sampling and would like a different machine and the fx on the octatrack seem way better than on the mpc 1000

sure I have both - the effects etc on the Octatrack are more flexible etc - but it's based on much faster processors than the MPC. As a music device I find it far less straightforward to use than JJOS 2XL - the button combos to do the simplest things etc. are pretty mind-blowing but that's part of Elektron's strategy that all their machines fit the same form-factor & look similar at the expense of usability: I have a Monomachine which is far more pleasant to use & is also a really nice partner for the MPC.

The lure is that the Octatrack can deal with really big samples & sets, sounds really great and can function as a pretty cool processor/mixer. I was persuaded by the need to do sound live on some very long theatre/art shows - combined with limited luggage allowance

One MPC/OT strategy is to plug the Akai's outputs into the Elektron with some channels set for processing/mixing (& some looping perhaps) & some to do their own sample playback thing. MPC works well as the master clock as it can save song tempo.
