Hi. I've got a 1000 with big screen and JJOS128XL (and 128SP). Was extremely lucky to score it on local Craigslist for $150 and it had JJOS password in it. After selling my Octatrack nothing could be better — but I'm still fairly new to MPCs. For some time I just used it for clocking my Eurorack modular system but now I'm starting to dig it as a sampler as well.

I am at a loss. Really hope somebody would be able to help.

After trying both versions of JJOS I've settled on 128XL (i miss the better midi sequencer features of SP though, but Track Edit and better envelopes, Pan LFO and detune in instrument programs appeal more).

Here's the question:
I'm trying to record Q-link events in this way —
first I record for example Sample Start, which is a NOTE ON event and it records perfectly neat,
then I overdub a REALTIME event (such as LPF cutoff).
then I look at the step edit screen and alas, my NOTE ON events are gone. they are overwritten by REALTIME events.
then I try to overdub another REALTIME event, let's say PAN. and alas, all my previously recorded LPF cutoff events are gone, and all the events in Event list (Step edit in JJOS) are PAN.

Is it how it is supposed to be? JJOS128SP acts totally different. it leaves my NOTE ON events in place and properly overdubs/adds REALTIME events.

thank you!

Since os2xl (os3, 128sp,xl) things have changed:

you would have to record Sample Start as note on

LPF as cc#74 or cc#2 from controller
PAN also from controller on cc#10
for additional tuning - PitchBend

on jjos2 and os1 you can write 1 "note on" and as many different realtime events as you want per step (with reasonable use - otherwise it will lagg)

currently for internal sampler there is only duration, velocity, Poly AfterT, PitchBend, Program Change, Note on/Realtime + few CCs to be used on one step:

#01 => Modulation wheel
#02 or 74 => Filter Cutoff
#07 => Volume
#10 => Pan
#71 => Filter resonance
#91 => FX send

There can be more events written for external MIDI, but internally... this is it (uneless I fogot smth)

Thank you! That brings a lot of clarity.

Yes! That works. Funny thing I could not find it in any JJOS manuals. Probably looked elsewhere.
I'm able to both record MIDI CC via q-link sliders or input them in CC/BEND editor.
Perfect! Now I'm able to use Q-Link just for sample start, and what's available via MIDI CC covers the basic needs.

Is it mentioned anywhere in JJ's manuals?

Thanks again.
