JJOS Installation

Hi all,

sorry if this already been asked.
i'm newbie with JJOS,
so i just recently got MPC 1000 with JJOS2XL free installed.
i'm going to purchase the JJOS 1 for now,
so,
if i install JJOS 1, does it overwrite the JJOS2XL?
Or should i unistall it? how?

JJOS2XL is not the 'free' version of JJOS, it's a paid version and is higher up than JJOS1, so if you have JJOSXL installed in your MPC you can download and install JJOS1 for free. However JJOSXL is the better OS by far, so IMO stick with that. But are you sure you have JJOS2XL? What exactly does it say on the OTHER screen?

Either way, you can just install any JJOS version into your MPC1000 and it will just (kind of) overwrite the previous one. But your serial code for any paid versions is permanently stored in your unit, so you can always return to a different JJOS version just by reinstalling it.

You can also hold down TAP TEMPO during boot up and this will dynamically switch the current installed OS back to the previously installed OS.

yes, it's JJOSXL installed, but not bought yet, so save function still disabled.
So i'll be purchasing the OS1. *it's a budget thingy,,just got my mpc 1000, so i'll start with OS1 first

what does "(kind of) overwrite previous one" mean exactly?
if i install the OS1, does that mean it will overwrite the JJOSXL?or there will be JJOS FREE, OS1, dan JJOSXL available on OS selection?

When you install a JJOS version, the previous installed version is still available via the TAP TEMPO boot up. So if you install jjos free and then jjos1, by holding down tap tempo each boot up it will let you switch between the two versions without needed to physically reinstall each OS, only two OS are stored at any one time. It's more of a power user thing, most people just stick with the one OS, so basically just install JJOS1 and just get on with making music.
