2500 user thinking of buying a 1000

Hey guys, I've been on the 2500 for about 10 years now, jjos2... while my mpc functions perfectly (and i've replaced all the buttons, wheel and motherboard), it's getting old and kind of janky from being taken apart and put back together so many times... I think I might like to go try a 1000, something more portable i can travel with, maybe investing in one w/ whichever jjos is preferable (XL? I've been a little out of the loop about JJ the last few years)). I can probably get a 1000 maxed out w 128 memory, hard drive and all for around $1000.

So should I keep my 2500 and get jjosXL or trade my 2500 toward a 1000? I've reviewed the specifics about the difference between the 2 machines and understand they are minimal when using the jj operating system. Any major flaws of the 1000? sorry, a lot of questions but any advice would be appreciated

it's a downgrade... and chances are the 1000 you'd get won't be new from the factory. Maybe if you are looking at a new set of features you could look into the XL screen and the JJOS that goes with it from MPC stuff.

I suppose you're right about downgrading. If I had didn't have an MPC to begin with, I would probably go for a 1K over a 2500, but it makes sense to just download jjosXL and stick with the 2500.

The feature I'm most interested in the crossfade loop. Rather than start a new thread about this, I'll just ask:

Searching these forums I haven't found too much info on the xfade, but supposedly you can't control the start/end parameters like you can on the 4000. Does the function sound smooth? does the MPC set the same points to each sample automatically(example: fades out at 90%) ?

I prefer the 1K over the 2500. If you don't need the additional outputs or knobs, they're basically the same. Just make sure you get the pad upgrade.

+1^^ Plus for me as a truck driver I can take it anywhere so portability plus the Pad Upgrade makes my Mpc1000 a BEAST!!
