Hi guys,
I hope this is the right place for this post as it's the first one I create.

I am still learning the machine and trying to explore its functions.
I will try to expose my question with the best English possible, apologies if it won't sound super clear.

I want to program a chopped up break on the MPC, like I would do on a tracker.
My goal is to be able to write midi notes step by step by pressing the pads, while the sequence is NOT playing.
I don't seem to understand how, or if this is even possible using JJOS2xl?

Thanks you in advance for your answers.

Cheers
Enrico

yes: on jjos2xl, grid mode is good for this. If the sample is in the MPC - doesn't need to be 'MIDI events' - use an internal 'drum' program:

you can record pad presses on the current grid step & then advance the cursor.

If you do wanna do the same to send out MIDI, then: http://www7a.biglobe.ne.jp/~mpc1000/os2xl/grid_midiv3.htm

You press only REC or OVERDUB without Play/Play Start. Settings of a step recording are visible when you press Window over Main Screen Grid or Grid mode or Step edit (of my memory). Plus of course T.C. settings.
