Me again... So I had a TR8S for a minute (OK, I've had a bunch of drum machines...samplers...)

One feature that would shine on the MPC is the Step Loop function for MIDI. It's dope. You write one loop and can remix / stutter / fill/ rearrange on the fly like a boss.

Something like:

1. Each pad = 1x 16th note step in the current bar.
2. Press and hold a pad to loop that step in 16th note repeats.
3. Press and hold multiple pads to loop those step in order.
4. Release pads and the playhead needs to return to playback in time with the timecode and beat/ bar position - not continue to play from the last looped position.

Bonus Round -

5. Be able to 'print' / save or record the step loop performance to a new track. YES!
