Sounds like a real stupid question, right?

But here’s the deal: if I trigger a sample, tapping the tap tempo button while it’s playing triggers note repeat, so the sample stops playing. This happens on the main screen, it happens in trim mode, it happens in program mode.

How do I get around this? I sure wish there were an option to require Shift+Tap Tempo to change the function of that button, having both functions share a button has resulted in randomly changing the tempo while playing, and now this. (I know the one button isn’t JJ’s fault, dumb design decision on Akai’s part, but surely it could be overcome with an option in JJOS?)

Does it also cut it off if you try putting the sample in a new sequence?
If not your best bet might just be to tap along to the record as it's spinning.
There's probably a more efficient way but I'm not on the 1000, good luck
