Mpc 2500 jjos version 3.13/low record level

Just got a 2500 and I'm not sure if the version of jjos would even make a difference but I noticed that compared to the mpc 1000 , the 2500 seems to need alot more gain from my dj mixer in order to get a decent level in the 2500. Maybe thats just how the 2590 works maybe? I'm not sure but I have my mixer levels in the yellow and the level meter on the 2500 is barely half way. The record gain knob also isn't working like it doesn't actually add gain to what I'm sampling at all. I also changed the master level from -12db to 0db but from what I understand that just turns up the output but even after turning up the master level the sample is so quiet I end up having to crank the main volume knob almost all the way up. Anybody know what the hell is goin on here?
