"who needs porn when you have an mpc?"

quite...

I was thinking a few days ago "I wonder why no one ever seems to release 3rd party os for a lot of the stuff thats around now since lots of gear is kind of like a little pc these days."

and here we go. It does happen! Its nice to know that its going on.

I do fancy grid edit a bit for some things and the "sample track" thing sounds very good to me too. But something the 1k could really do with is a pitch mod envelope. Much too useful on a drum sampler or phrase sampler of this kind to be left out imo.

i'm curious to do grid on an mpc
it's just a different view of step edit, correct? i wonder how they show swing - do they just nudge it over, or is swing just implied?

pretty badass. i'm excited. when i got an mpc i became anti grid to an extent - largely because that's the way i had been producing before, on acid and reason.

however, grid being in an mpc may be VERY nice

I wish there was a way to contact the guy. We could email him a list of suggestions of things to implement and see how possible he thinks implementation would be. I couldn't find an email address though....maybe after beta testing begins.

i'm wondering, if so much is possible, how much are the 2500 users are gonna get spoiled?

i'm also very curious about grid edit! i guess it's a bit better to work with the grid edit view.. but if your used to step edit ; why change a winning team?

Step edit is fine, useful and well implemented in the 1k.
Very useful to be able to shift any note to any tick. A really good understanding of it opens up a lot of new ground you just couldnt cover with your fingers.

But step and grid are both ways of visualy showing you info to edit ...and in loads of ways grid is just more econimical than step. just as in some ways step is able to do things that could only be confusingly implemented in grid. with the 1ks sliders grid could be seriously simple and elegent to use if put together well.

Anyway im rambling, but the point is that if anyone starts talking as if grid edit is some kind of "prgramming with stablisers" option they should be run out of town... I think music is about haveing ideas and then realising them however you can. Someone on here sneared "I thought you made music with your ears, not your eyes...." a while ago on this subject, which made me laugh. I use my ears, eyes, hands feet, anything i can!

Its odd how people can get the idea that this thing of that thing is "Elite" or more grown up or higher status somehow. Grid plus step plus sequence edit would make the 1k even more stunning.

And HUGE thanks to the guy who translated.

No problem. I just wish the stuff I translate at work was as interesting.

* As for the method of rewriting OS this

As for MPC1000EX OS which is downloaded from the home page of Akai (V2.10) rewriting part, it is something which adds the software which checks the CF card at binary code level.
Those where it rewrites in function of main to be just several bytes which do not have relationship, because the cord/code of main that way is, completely there is no influence in the operation of MPC1000.
Furthermore, rewriting, putting the CF card where the software of WP1000 was written, if you do not turn on power, it is the same as usual MPC1000.

When the rewriting OS ends, WP1000 (wp1000.bos) downloading next, please copy in the route of the CF card.
Inserting the CF card where wp1000.bos was written, when you turn on power, WP1000 starts.

* While pushing the TAP TEMPO key, when you turn on power, OS of MPC1000 starts even with while the CF card where WP1000 enters is inserted.

* When liking to input name to Name of the version screen when starting, please add underline + name to file name.
Example: When” wp1000_T yamada.bos” and file name are modified, Name: T yamada it is indicated.

here's the (translated) explanation of how he managed to make "plugins" for the mpc work

i don't know if it is understandable though...
