sorry about my lack of knowledge...not quite sure how these two variables work. thru trial and error i hav managed to get samples to b sliced perfectly, but not quite sure what is the correct amount to alter recovery time and threshold, and not too sure how the 2 settings corrospond with each other. anyone got any explanation, it seems fairly easy, just would like to understand it a bit more so i can chop samples quickly and precisely

well, think of recovery time like some goddamn compression, the release. how long after a transient do you want your chop to last?

threshold is the db peak at which a transient is detected.

ideally, we could see these settings applied over our sample in realtime ala reason instead of guessing based on the little wav illustration.

ok so if u hav a standard drum break with kicks, snares and high hats. if u set threshold to a higher value, then it is likely to slice according to the higher peaks, meaning, it might nt slice the hats? does that make sense. spo therefore u wants relase to b a medium-ish setting and threshold to b low? i might b getting confused. sorry

nah you're getting it.

basically we'll have to do it by trial and error, but you'll get better at it.

Or just visit the thread in the 2500 forum on the same topic. It may/maynot be useful to you.

Wow, the 1K and 2.5k communities being united through the new OS. We should get JJ to work on the mid-East crisis now.
