What is the simult function?

Yo I have no idea what you guys are talking about. I think I know how to use almost every feature in the 1000, but what is the simult function and what does it do? Is this just another name for something else?

with the simult function you can assign one pad to activate up to 4 more pads in the same program mind you.

so instead of pad a1 just being a kick and nothing else (and lets not forget that you can still have 4 samples per pad.) you can press pad a1 and also hear b2, c16, b3, and a2. it all depends on how you program it you can also add individual effects per pad... .



now imagine that simple kick being layered to a really thick, fat, and tasty kick....

Ahhhhh that's sick! So how do you do it? And will it save all settings if I save as Sequences and Songs? B/c before when I would try to layer using program mode, it wouldn't save the layers, so I had to just either overdub with another layer or create a new track.

So I guess what I'm asking is what's the best way to use this feature and will it save in Sequences and Songs?

always keep a pad and pen by your mpc at all times[/b]. just incase of crashes or whatever. and if you already converted (paid your dues) crashes shouldnt be a problem. i also suggest that when you save you should save the individual program in a folder AFTER seting up the simult info. so what ever envelopes or filters/effects you made on each individual pad is saved on the memory card/ hd but still you should also keep your simult info on a note pad just in case it saves everything in the program except the simult info. from what i understand they're working on it still. so expect anything negative. but also expect a positive response when they get all the bugs out! which lately has been every 1-2 weeks

I have a question about the simult feature...

Does anyone know if this feature can only work with internal sounds within the MPC? I'm trying to use simult as a way of hitting chords from external synths via-midi with one pad, and it's not doing it at all when I set it up, just plays whatever note I assigned the pad to, not the extra pads with simult that I assign. Any insight?

someone could make different midi pgms w/ tons of chords simulted in. unfortunately, you wouldn't be able to shift the individual notes, creating a strum type, but you could do some interesting things w/ synth stabs this way for sure!

I imagine the code could be changed so that simult affected midi transmission of pad notes, but I think a better idea for doing this kind of thing was posted here a long time ago on one of those "wanted feature" lists we love to make -- incorporate programmable macro features that you can trigger with singe pads. That way you could stick any chord or combination of notes onto each pad in all four banks. Or controller sweeps, pitch bends etc whatever. Implementation might be a little tricky, one way I could think of doing it would be to record external midi and then cut and paste results from seq edit.... hmmmm...
