Clear Memory

one thing that still needs to be improved upon is a better way of dropping everything in the RAM. as of now there are more steps than there need to be. you have to delete all songs and seqs, then all pgms, then all samples. why not simplify this into one F# function, maybe in mode/pad 9 where there's a lot of room?

Yes, that would be a nifty time-saver.

I didn't get to try version 4 yet (moving house since I d/l'd it), but did JJ fix the thing where loading a project file (or was it a folder?) wouldn't erase the contents of memory? If he did, then the old 'blank project' is a work-around, at least. Just save all memory to a project file after you've emptied the MPC, then load that project file in each time you want to zap your memory.

there have been weird issues with loading new projects ever since the beginning. i think the file saving architecture was retarded from the start, although the interface and structure has been improved over the akai version, the actual act of saving/loading needs some work. it's just a matter of focusing on that instead of pushing for more features, etc. personally i'd rather just get it taken care of.

The quickest way now to clear everything is a reboot- kinda annoying when im auditioning beats for mcs i collab with.


although i should get better about organizing my beats and making compilations everything month--- but thats a personal issue

NOP!!!!!!!!!!!! i was just about to start a new thread about this!!!! i have found a major bug i think... ok say i have two folders- song1 and song2. i have song1 loaded and i want to erase everything and load song2... so in every operating system untell 4.1 i could just highlight the folder(song2) and hit load- replace same sounds in memory(yes) then hit clear and it would go to work everythings fine and dandy. but now when i do it it just loads program files and samples with no sequence and song files!!!! but the weird thing is is when i turn it off and load the exact same folder(song2) it loads everything fine but for that i dont hit clear, instead i hit normal load or do it or watever and it works fine. its like when you hit clear it totally ignores song and sequence data!!!!! but i dont know how to write JJ so can you guys make sure it's not just my machine? ive tried it multiple times and it does it everytime.. peace

Instead of loading the folder, I go into the folder and load the .PRJ file... works perfect every time. But if you are not using SAVE ENTIRE MEMORY when you save, then that won't work since you won't have a .PRJ files.

when I want to load a folder that hasnt got a PRJ in it,and select to clear
memory while loading the folder,it wont delete whatever sequences are
involved,only the programs and samples get deleted-this is on 4.01-
anyone else having this issue?

^^ me too...... i would save entire memory but i never found out how too i mean i really dont understand the "replace same files in memory" question. sometimes it makes copyies of all the samples in my harddrive and sometimes it doesnt.... obviosly i dont want it just randomly making copies in my harddrive so i always just saved programs and samples and answered yes- then put an all sequences and songs file in it... what do you guys do?

make a new folder always when you save!

here's how i do things every time.

1 - turn on mpc. autoload set to a little blank slate i set up (prenamed tracks, blank prenamed programs, etc.

2 - make a beat.

3 - make a new folder

4 - save entire memory into goddamn folder.
