Can You Trigger a Sequence From a Pad ??

I mean like program a sequence in the regular fashion and then assign the whole sequence to a single pad and trigger it that way, also record that back into the sequencer?

By now you cannot do this. Because you cannot bind this feature to a Pad. You can only trigger the following functions with a Pad in the P.Mode
MODE [PAD 10] + [F5] (P.Mode):
- Tap Tempo, Bar >>, << Bar, Beat >>, <<Beat, T.C.>>, << T.C. Go to Bar, [GRID], [NEW PGM], [TRIM], [STEP EDIT], [SAVE], [LOAD], [EFFECT], [MIXER], [PROGRAMM], [RECORD], [SLIDER], [SEQ. EDIT], [SONG].

don't want to be redundant but , ok is it possible to trigger a whole song from 1 pad? cause that could be a work around

With the numerous amount of features added to the JJ OS, the best thing anyone can do is experiment. The MPC won't self-destruct, explode in your face, or disintegrate into a pile of ash. I'm sure we'll all discover more useful things than previously imagined... and eventually this forum will call for a "Useful Tips & Tricks" sticky thread that we can contribute to.

ever thought of pressing play? hahah!!! use your imagination customise your sequences as you need them, dont be lazy!

aah, you mean resampling, i'd thought of that but hadn't tried it. I was hoping to not have to touch my sampling time but maybe that's the only option. roland/yamaha sequencers/samplers have this function and it's really useful.

So you mean that there is no "Next Seq" Pad option on this OS.

Im looking to get a 1000 from a 2000xl and if this isnt' possible thats a major downgrade.

Remember, it's only a "major" downgrade to those that gaf about it and use it religiously.

just to let you cats know, I found out tonight that you can trigger a whole sequence from a single pad, and you can record it into a sequence also all of this without resampling, i've only seen it done on the original akai os though, i haven't tried it with the jj os yet, going to try to tonight. I just came back from this cats place who did it.

the way he did it was basicly you go to mode +load, and choose to load a sequence, and you press the pad that you want to load that sequence into and from there you should be good to go. please try it out and if it works post up, that's a very powerful feature that will almost make me feel a little better about my **** up Q-link situation.

well upon further observation it would seem that you cannot record into the sequencer the 'pad-sequence' triggering/play.
it does work in jjs new os but just like in the akai version it's basicly only for Live breakdowns and triggering. while you're using this feature the record buttons are disabled so no recording of any on the fly remixes.

just in case anybody doesn't know what this is it works like this:

begin from the main screen
record a sequence 'example sequence'
then hit next seq
then press play on the mpc
then watch the screen and find out which pad corresponds to the sequence you recorded, it'll be the same name
then while the sequencer is playing hit that pad
then hold down the f4 (sudden) button
then repeatedly trigger the pad thatcorresponded to your sequence.


it would be great if jj could make this a recordable feature with-in the sequencer.

with jj's os you can trigger mpc sequences with program changes, so if you have another sequencer and something you could use to play program changes into the sequencer you could record and playback a live arrangement of sequences (using program changes)... but you'll need some external midi stuff to hook that up, but I can't see why it wouldn't work, I've yet to try this myself, but it could be a good method to arrange sequences live on the mpc.

I've got a 2nd sequencer (rm1x) and peavey PC1600 that would probably do this pretty well.

This probably won't help you out, but might help you figure something out.
