2500 3.03: "*" folder cleaned my whole hd!

I was browsing through my hd via usb, deleting some stuff, copying some new sounds etc...
When i was in some folder with drumsounds i noticed this folder called "*" which i never put there. Clicked on it and my pc tells me it has some kind of syntax error or something. Tried to delete it, same error message.
So i wanted to check if i can delete it on the mpc, tried to safely remove the hd but it didn't work, the screen wouldn't open.
I went to the mainscreen, just like i've been doing it all the time without any problems yet, hit load, selected the hd and it was empty!!!!
Tried to access it through usb again, no luck. Took it out, put it back in, reinstalled JJ 3.03, installed 3.04, installed AKAI 1.22 and nothing worked, everything was gone and everytime i tried to access the hd with my comp it would not work or even make my comp freeze.
Since i back up everything once a week i only lost like 10 beats but what's up with that?
It works now but i had to format it and could not get anything back.

The JJ OS is a 3rd party, unsupported, beta operating system. We have to use it at our own risk. When I use the JJ OS, I do not use my hard drive at all. I would rather corrupt a 512MB flash card than my hard drive.

you might want to try to put that drive on a computer and run a program that lets you "see" invisible files, for instance if you name ANY file "." with any other combination of characters on a mac then it makes the contents of the folder or file invisible... to correct this you have to name it back to something else. I do not think your data is gone UNLESS you reformatted.. and even in that case some of your data should be salvageable.

Also it's responsible for global warming and damages the ozone layer.

yeah put it in a computer and use a program like Ontrack Easy Recovery Professional.
