some thoughts on file management

okay, i've been playing with 4.28 and i REALLY like it, but here's some stuff i've been thinking over.

does anyone else run into some little glitches in the save/load section? like when i use the scroll wheel it sometimes takes a second or two to catch up and it plays a couple of frames of each sample that i've scrolled over. i dont think its damaging, but still. does anything like this happen to anyone else?

also, sometimes i run into problems when importing/exporting to my pc, like the pc wont safely dismount the mpc. i think this happens sometimes when i delete a file, because the pc is still accessing the drive because it saves the file in the recycling bin. i dont know if emptying the recycle bin will fix this. i wish i knew more about how this feature works, because i feel nervous managing the hard drive from the pc, but it's the best way to do it. does anyone have any tips on this? (to be fair, this was even more of a problem in 2.10...)

the "purge" feature- wouldnt it be nice if you could review the files to be purged before you actually purge them? like when you press the button, a menu pops up with a list of all samples and the program(s) they're assigned to, and you can just check off which ones you want to delete.

yeah, same here. it happenes somtimes, but i never thought about it as a problem...

deleting with the shift button presse (shift + del) kills a file directly, without putting it in the recycle bin. i use this and i never had any problems. but i'm always a bit nervous too when i use my mpc-hd at my computer... i just try do do as muach as possible with my mpc, make quick backups on my compactflash and backup with my compuer every 10 days or so.

yeah, this would be great! but i'm always pretty sure which samples i purge, so it isn't necessary for me. but the feature to purge samples not used in one (or more) sequences would be even greater!

that would be a cool feature. i havent had the other issues though...
