Is the JJ OS worth it and can I regress ?

Ok, just got my MPC1K and have read a lot of good things about the JJ OS, but I have also read that there are still some issues with it. Is it worth me getting this OS ? What are the major benefits for me ?

Also, if I try the free version and don't like it, can I reinstall the original 2.10 Akai OS ? Most Flash ROMS I have used in the past do not allow retrograding.

BTW, is the free version a good representation of what can be done with the paid version ? Or are there fundamental changes that the new V4 has that would make a big difference.

And can I download and install 4.29 and use it normally, with just the Save function disabled ?

Get the JJ OS. The only reason i can see holding back is if you have no mpc experience and want to learn the Mpc 1st. Even then I still say get it, but you may need to familiarize yourself wit the basic operations 1st.

as long as the tap tempo works, then your ok. For some reason, my tap tempo won't with with jj's os anymore. What I can say is that going back to the akai os is almost painfull. It's almost amazing how long they left v1.22 without updating it! I mean it's almost been 5 months and there are still many issues that need to be sorted out. If you use the akai os and don't have a problem then I wouldn't switch to the jj os. it will spoil you.

painful? it would be ... ehhem..stupid.

tap tempo is hidin from ya.. i dint like how he hid it..
its just in the MODE -> OTHER -> MISC.(f2) .. change TAP TEMPO to however many you want it to take before it gives tempo.
mines at two..but sometimes i change tempo not meaning to...wutever.
change it back.

I feel you all teh way on that.. thankfully, it worked again last night. I was sitting up looking at the MPC.. turned on, but nothing loaded.. I was completely uninspired to use it without the jj os.. is that bad? haha Anyways, I loaded up 3.04 and it worked. The akai os has timestretch, but after you get used to the jj system, the akai os doesn't even feel right. I even sent akai a message about why they are taking so long to give an update. I was that bothered!
