Individual track length, any chance?

Hello there,

i think idividual track lengh would be another kiler feature for the 1k.
Like you can find it in Ableton´s´Live.

When you jam with various sounds and with hooked up synths it´s cool to record 4 bars over a, let´s say, 2 bar loop and so on.

you get the idea ...

i´d pay bucks for this feature alone

The Kawai Q-80 had this feature. I used it for tons of tracks back in the day. You could set any of the 32 available tracks to any length. Very cool and a real time saver.

my rm1x has that too.

its well trippy having diff length tracks, esp. if they can loop independently, like the precursor to LogicAudio - Emagic's Creator had this in every midi pattern.

yeah im sure it would be a cool addition... but then again, rm1x is cheap now days... maybe that would be the better option if this cant be done on the 1000.

here's the problem with this otherwise good idea

jj has explained to me and others to think of what the mpc1000 can/can't do based on current file types.

there is no TRACK file (i wish there were)
there is a SEQ file.
seq file has a timesig, a length, and X number of tracks. it's not the tracks that get assigned length, it's the sequence.

my advice to achieve what you want here is to just do the legwork and copy the extra data over that many times again. say you have a 2 bar loop that you would have set to a track with a length of 2 bars - just copy it over and over. or render it down to a new wav and enter it four times.

or use simult sequence, that would work too.

thats probably the best way to do it, but not forgetting we now have "immediate play" for next seq, which means that if u have dupes of the seq in question - but all diff lengths (1br, 2br, 4 etc etc) - the result would be similar to the main goal. its nice watching diff length seq's change as they compensate for length differences.....

ie: 'seqA' of 8bars, switched to 'seqB' of 4bars at bar2 of 'seqA', it repeats (obviously) at end of bar4. but change 'seqA' (8br) to 'seqB' (4br) at bar 7,
then 'seqB' runs from bar 3. u dig?
