when i get a lot of sounds playing at once my mpc freezes

than it will turn its self off and come back on. i was runing the 4.41 just got the 4.43 will this fix it

probably not, ive recently had a few crashes, over poly abuse from me i expect though.

im new to the 1000 but is that common for it to crash in the middle of a mix ,jam. session etc.... i mean it keep doing it when i would slice samples as well it would just black out the screen and reboot itself losing all my progression

you could try to reseat your ram. is it akai ram?

no its a 128 mb hyphinx ram how would i reset it and could this in fact be my problem a. brain

take it out and put it back in. other than that, buy akai ram. oh and by the way, it has to be 256 mb chip, not 128. thats your problem right there.

i don't think so. 128mb is fine. i have a 128mb chip of ram in my mpc (taken from a laptop) and it works no problems. obviously the mpc "sees" only half = 64mb.

for the initial problem:

try reseating the ram (as said)
or try without the ram (if you can)

and you could also reset your mpc (there is a key combination on startup, i never remember it, something like [erase] + power on or something).

if nothing like that fixes it, contact JJ. (be ready to mail him or to upload the data necessary to reproduce the crash)

this hasn't happened to me. are you sure it's cuz there are too many sounds playing at once? try to get a reproduceable thing going on.

yeah sorry i didnt mean the capacity of the ram, but rather the make could have different specs...

honestly, try UPGRADING your ram, 64 just isnt enough for me, its gotta be maxed out to read 128...if your only using 64, then thats proabably the reason its glitching on you...

just my two cents from what i gathered, if im wrong, my bad, i'll go hang myself...just tryina help...pz.

Couldn't the memory just be removed first to see if it is a memory issue?

If the MPC still crashes with only the factory 16 mb, then you might have a more serious problem...

just a thought.

and you could also try using the RAM check startup routine:
remove the ram.
turn on the mpc, let the os load.
turn off the mpc
put back the ram
turn on the mpc.
it should go automatically to the RAM check routine. let it do it's thing. if you don;t get no errors, then your ram is likely to be fine.

to everyone else, i was refering to something in this idea, it seems like he's overloading his mpc the same manner as above quoted,


ofcourse, try removing the ram and repeat to see if it crashes...

if you do everything fine without the ram upgrade, then its the ram...if it continues to freeze without the ram, its something OS/hardware...


but yeah...im thinking its more of a ram issue from this stand point seeing he has only 64mbram its more likely to crash due to an overload,...but...could be a os issue...never know...
