In 5.08, I noticed that there is now what seems to be a "sound" indicator of sorts next to the tempo as well as above the "Tr" in the Tr box. Anyone else find these distracting? I have no idea what use these are...or perhaps they are an experiment?

I mean, it's interesting since they appear each time there is a sound for each track, but I'm not sure what function they have...

they indicate that a note is triggered and they've always been there, even in the akai OS.

the one next to the sequence indicates that a note was triggered in the sequence, and the one next to the track indicates that a note was triggered in the track.

Thanks for the input Mike. I get why they are there, I just wondered if anyone else found it distracting.

Also, I honestly don't recall seeing them in previous versions of the JJ OS...I think this is new? Especially having two separately blinking squares on the same screen, it's quite noticeable and doesn't really add anything.

I mean, if it's being triggered, couldn't you just use your ears? Now, having a level meter instead (ala MPC 4k) that might be cool (and possible; I'm trying to figure out if there's a way to get a screenshot so I can make the suggestion to JJ...anyone know how to do this?)

Like Mike said they've been there for ever in both the Akai & JJ OS, I think it's good to have indication of something going on...can't see why you'd get distracted by it but if you do then I guess it can be distracting to some people.

what i really mean is,
if you need to know somethings happening, its reassuring to see evidence of such. so blinking squares at the track and seq level really help me to check that ive got it right, the lack of these squares would have pissed me around no end when i first got the mpc (akai and jj os).

my life would be near complete (whooopeeeeeaaa!) if only JJ would add this type of display to the track mute screen....ie: any track thats triggering notes/events etc would have a little indicator in each of the 16viewable track-blocks....

IE: a tiny (1 pxl wide) level meter pushing up n down on the left (or right) hand side of the block - it would be perfect...i thought once that i could actually cope with the whole block flickering with activity but i guess that would be distracting!

also, any selected track (ie:shown in the main screen) could be 'highlighted' in the track mute screen by a bolder block out line.....and 'F3/4' = 'Tr -' / 'Tr +' for choosing the selected track without leaving the track mute screen.

Yes ace display idea for the Pad Mute Screen ! & maybe Shift + Pad from the Mute screen would select that Track too...
