any good tutorials out there?

title says it all. are there any good MPC1000 tutorials out there that go with JJ? the one on this web site seems good (the sample chapter was interesting), but it uses the Akai OS, which is decent, but has limitations and different instructions than JJ. are there any dedicated JJ tutorials for using the 1000 to its greatest abilities?

I don't believe there are any JJ OS tutorials yet. We'll have a finished JJ manual soon. For now, there's a tutorial called Beat Making on the MPC-1000 written by MPC-Tutor (MPC-Samples.com). It was written before the JJ OS, but is very usable with JJ 4.63. The JJ OS can do everything the stock OS can do and more. JJ didn't change the OS but improved it so you shouldn't have any problems learning from a pre-JJ tutorial.

I am an MPC beginner.....

who is looking for some step by step real life examples of Beat Makin' on the MPC1000+JJ OS 4.6.X ,

Have found some MPC1000 videos on Youtube ,learned some basics operations from them :
sampling, chopping, using Reason as a sound module...

But cannot find any videos or tutorials about the JJ OS
sequence editing to make a complex arrangement in more debth :
Step edit, Grid Edit , all the Techy editing stuff, etc for JJ OS 4.6.X

Is the Beat Makin on the MPC1000 tutorial useful for that matter if i am on JJ OS 4.67 ?

The MPC 1000 is a pretty straightforward machine and can be learned by experimenting with it. I mean, I never followed any tutorial whatsoever and simply read the manual. Stuff like the grid edit and hooking up MIDI really is very simple. If I can do it, anyone can

I bought the tutorial from this website and it worked great! I fly through my MP now. I bought it when I still used the Akai os and I got the JJ OS before I finished the tutorial. I used the JJ OS for the rest of the tutorial and I didn't have any probs. Once you know how to do the basic functions of the MP you just apply those to the extra features in the JJ OS. Its not very different, its just better. So don't worry, you can buy the tutorial on this site and still use the JJ OS. Once the JJ manual comes out, it will fill you in on any of the features of the JJ OS that you don't find out how to use on your own. But for the most part, you'll figure out the extras on your own. Plus keep your eyes open while you're on the forum. Guys who know the ins and puts are talking about them all the time.

so shall i wait a few days for the Stan Steez JJ OS upcoming manual,
or JJOS manual will cover only the extra features of JJ OS compared to the one of AKAI OS and the Beat Making tutorial still a useful book to have?

That's a good question. Cause I'm not sure if Stan's manual will cover just the JJ stuff or all the stuff of the MPC. Hmmmm, let me check on that. To be safe you can wait to see for yourself what he'll be covering than make your decision from there. Either way you'll get the results you're looking for.

Oh yeah, can't forget about the good Nym tutorials (video!). That'll be the ultimate as far as advanced JJ usage. I'm eagerly awaiting those.

Just a thought:

while we ALL eagerly awaiting for Stan's tutorial and/or Nym's videos....

Why not to just at least correct the Japaneese to English automatic translation by someone who can read Japanese and write reasonable English and is on the AKAI forum?

I don't understand what's so difficult about clicking the English site(Google translation) link on JJ's site before scrolling down the page to read the manual. It's practicly legible enough to comprehend.
Stan's manual will make it even easier without a doubt. but it's best to let him take all the time he needs to complete it.

yeah i gotta say also that the eng translated by google is actually usable. it's by no means a tutorial, but they really do explain the fcns to a usable extent.

but maybe its just me and my slow mind that has trouble reshuffling the words in the right order
