Chop Shop in Stereo?

Despite what the manual says, does anyone know a way to use the Chop Shop functions with Stereo samples? Is this something that has been rectified in one of the JJ OS updates? Any help would be appreciated.

Also is there any sort of general manual/instructions (Non Japanese) available for the latest JJ OS extra functions?

Akai OS chopshop will convert stereo to mono, there is nothing you can do about it but you can work around it by Extracting each chop but that can get a bit tedious.

Installing JJ OS fixes this, chopping stereo samples = stereo slices...much better

With regards to JJ OS manual, your best bet is to run the manual through the google translater (there is a link to do this on the JJ OS site)...while it doesn't translate perfectly you can extract all the information you need easily enough.

I now have the JJ 5.18 OS installed. But the chop shop feature is still converting my stereo samples to mono. Any patched phrase automatically goes to mono and sounds terrible compaired to the orig stereo sample. Can anyone help me with what I'm doing wrong? Thanks.

Not much on the stereo -> mono problem I'm afraid, are you sure it's converting the slices to mono because with all the JJ OSes I've used (still on 5.12, not installed 18 yet) if the sample you are slicing is stereo it stays stereo and if you want it mono you have to convert it (obviously mono stays as mono too). All I can suggest is double check that this is really converting them to mono and if it is then try a different version of the OS but saying that no one else has complained about this problem in 18 and I'm sure someone would've if it was a problem.

Oh, the other thing is are you assigning your samples to the seperate outs or are you sending them out the master, the reason I ask is because if you send a stereo sample through a mono output (e.g. out 1 or 2 or 7) then it will come out as mono and in order for it to come out as stereo you need to send it to a pair of outputs (e.g 12, 34 or 78 ).

Hi thanks for the reply. This is most definately converting to mono out of the master outputs. 5.18 is the first JJ OS I've used so I can't comment on 5.12. Can anyone with the 5.18 OS confirm for me? If this is a shortcoming of 5.18 then I'll try and get 5.12 because chop shop in stereo is mandatory for me.

Can anyone with the 5.18 OS just try and chop a sample and then patch phrase and see if it does anything apart from default the patched phrase to mono?

I will test it for you tonight and post the result on saturday.

this is where the confusion comes in is it any of the auto chopping features or just the patch phrase part?

At any rate

stereo sample = stereo slices
stereo sample = mono patch phrase sample

if you use F2 you get stereo slices, if you use F3 you get a mono patch phrase sample

Thanks for the information that makes sense for what is happening. Does anyone know anyway to get Patch Phrase in Stereo? Is this a function on any of the JJ OS versions? In theory could it be done in a future OS update or is this just something inherent with patch phrase that it has to be in mono.
