Hi peeps,

Im a house producer and have made a simple house beat (4/4) with alot going on such as congas, snares, kicks, hihats.

But have a problem. Im not sure if its a processing problem or something but wondered if you could help me.

Ive got for instance my 4/4 beat but when i go to do an open hihat at the end it cuts part of the sample off or doesnt even play it some of the recordings where i try to re record it again. As i say im not sure if its a processing problem due to the fact theres alot going on but ive only had this a few times before and wonder what your thoughts were on this matter. As i say simple house beat with loads of different hits in it, but when i try to record the open hi hat im playing on the pads it cuts out like the note on is on which it isnt.

Would be much appreciated for your help.

Thanks.

first, look at your polyphony detector
then, set pads that play overtop each other to MONO not POLY
third, set convert all drum samples that don't need to be stereo to mono.

search the term polyphony mismanagement to find more information.

Hey bro,

Right went back to my mpc and did this...

Went to MODE>PROGRAM>PARAM>VOICE OVERLAY

And changed all the samples that overlapped to mono instead of poly.

So did that but when it came to the part where you said convert all the samples that dont need to be in stereo to mono i didnt know how to do that. And also where you said to have alook at the polyphony detector i didnt know where that was. Im not sure if you was talking about the thing in the top right hand corner in params where is said "PLAY: POLY"

But i tried doing what i could which was setting the samples that overlapped to mono instead of poly. So i hit my open hihat sample in the overdub record mode and it records fine and plays fine (note i havent taken the overdub off yet). But when i press stop and play start it plays back the sample bits of it cut off like i said theres to much going on and it cant process it to play the sample. I have got the note on selected on this sample as it´s an open i hat sample and i want to do that effect where its closed and then open so his is why i selected the note on. But yeah it´s still having problems playing back the sample in certain parts on the sequence.

Sorry if ive made it abit confusing but this is the only way i know how to explain it.

Peace.

it sounds to me like either your program is set to mono mode which puts all of the samples in the same mute group basically.

or you have some sounds assigned to the same mute group and dont want them to be.

the way mute groups (or program mono mode not mono like stereo, mono like 1 sound at a time) work is this. pad 1 and pad 2 can't play at the same time.

this can be useful for open/closed hi-hats and lots of things, but undesirable sometimes too.

here is an example, lets say you had a sample that says "ladies and" on pad 1 and a sample that says "gentelmen" on pad 2. if that program is mono mode or they are both set to the same mute group and you hit 1 2 1 2 1 2 1 2 1 2 1 2 on like 16th notes you will hear:
ladie-gentl-ladie-gentl-ladie-gentle-ladie-gentle

if the program is poly mode and those aren't in the same mute group you would hear ladies and gentlemen sounding like it was going through a delay if you played the same pattern on the pads.

just check the program screen and see if its set to POLY or MONO.
also check your pad assignments and see if they are set to mute groups.

let us know which version of which OS you are using for more specific instructions on where that will be.

in trim mode

. And also where you said to have alook at the polyphony detector i didnt know where that was.

mode + pad 10.

it could also be a mono program as ejector said but i still feel like it's probably polyphony mismanagement
did you search that term?
